College Basketball 2014, Week Eleven

127Well, the Spartans eventually prevailed  over the Golden Gophers of Minnesota in their second consecutive overtime victory (at home) last Saturday before going on the road to Evanston to take on the Wildcats of Northwestern (who upset Illinois (#23) last weekend).   The Big Ten conference how has four teams in the AP top-25 (two of them are currently in the top five).  And, the number of undefeated teams has dropped to three (Arizona, Syracuse,  and Wichita State).   Next up for the Spartans: the Fighting Illini of Illinois. Go Green!

The upsets among the top-25 this week included:
Ohio State (#3) losing to Iowa (#20).
Wisconsin (#3) losing to unranked Indiana by three (3) points.
Iowa State (#8) losing to Kansas (#15).
Iowa State (#9) losing to unranked Oklahoma by five (5) points.
Louisville (#12) losing to Memphis (#23).
Colorado (#15) losing to unranked Washington.
Duke (#16) losing to unranked Clemson.
Oregon (#17) losing to unranked California.
Oregon (#17) losing to unranked Stanford by two (2) points.
Gonzaga (#22) losing to unranked Portland.
Illinois (#23) losing to unranked Northwestern by six (6) points.
Oklahoma (#25) losing to unranked Kansas State by six (6) points.

The close calls (wins by six points or less [two scores]) among the top-25 this week included:
Arizona (#1) defeating unranked UCLA by four (4) points.
Michigan State (#5) defeating unranked Minnesota in overtime.
Wichita State (#6) defeating unranked Missouri State by three (3) points in overtime.
Florida (#10) defeating unranked Arkansas by two (2) points in overtime.
Oklahoma State (#11) defeating unranked West Virginia by one (1) point.
Massachusetts (#19) defeating unranked St. Bonaventure by five (5) points.
Missouri (#21) defeating unranked Auburn by two (2) points.
Duke (#23) defeating unranked Virginia by four (4) points.

The losses to higher-ranked teams among the top-25 this week included:
Kansas State (#25) losing to Kansas (#18).
