College Basketball 2015, Week Eleven!

127The Spartans had a disappointing week — they only played once (Saturday) and face the Maryland Terrapins (#14) on the road.  The Terps proved to be more that Sparty could handle and they fell back 1-1/2 games behind the league leaders.    There are now only two undefeated teams remaining in the AP top-25: Kentucky and Virginia; and, there are only one remaining team with just one loss: Gonzaga.  But the Big Ten now has four (4) teams in the AP top-25: Wisconsin (#6), Maryland (#13), Indiana (#23) and Iowa (#25).  Welcome to college basketball, where you just never know what will happen.  Next up for the Spartans this week, Penn State (tonight), Nebraska (Saturday), and Rutgers (Tuesday).  Go Green!

The upsets among the top-25 this week included:
Villanova (#4) losing to unranked Georgetown.
Utah (#8) losing to Arizona (#10).
Kansas (#9) losing to Iowa State (#11) by five (5) points.
Iowa State (#11) losing to Baylor (#22) by only one (1) point.
West Virginia (#16) losing to Texas (#20).
Dayton (#22) losing to unranked Davidson.
Wyoming (#25) losing to unranked San Diego State.

The close calls (wins by six points or less [two scores]) among the top-25 this week included:
Gonzaga (#3) defeating unranked Pepperdine by only two (2) points.
Iowa State (#9) defeating unranked Kansas State by six (6) points.
Notre Dame (#12) defeating unranked Miami by five (5) points.
North Carolina (#15) defeating unranked NC State by only two (2) points.
VCU (#17) defeating unranked Duquesne by six (6) points.

The losses to higher-ranked teams among the top-25 this week included:
Louisville (#6) losing to Duke (#4).
Oklahoma (#18) losing to Kansas (#11).
Iowa (#25) losing to Wisconsin (#6).
