How Insulting!

Being bullied, being the butt of the joke, being marginalized . . . whatever the reason, finding yourself at the wrong end of this contumelious treatment is never fun.  And no matter how many times you try to convince yourself that “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never harm me,” you inevitably discover that words can and do cause pain.  To “consider the source” and rise above the humiliation and insult was always the noble thing to do, though it was easier said than done at times.
