Trivia in the Kitchen, Number Forty-Nine!

“Pesto” originates from the Italian word pestare which means “to pound, or to crush” (probably in reference to the method used to prepare this sauce).  And, while the main ingredients include: garlic, basil, pine nuts, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, and Fiore Sardo (cheese made from sheep’s milk), variations are aplenty.  Here are a few tried and true recipes, but feel free to experiment and create your own unique creation.   Happy pesto-ing!
