Michigan State was on the road this week visiting the Nebraska Cornhuskers and managed to once again play horribly on defense — so horrible in fact that they lost in the waning seconds. What a great weekend of college football though, with a lot of close and well-played games including plenty of upsets (and close calls) among the top-25. Five teams dropped out of the ranks of the unbeaten (LSU, Michigan State, TCU, Memphis, and Toledo). Ohio State was able to maintain their rank atop the top twenty-five in the AP, but in the College Playoff rankings, dropped to #3. The Big Ten has four teams represented in the College Playoff rankings: Ohio State [#3], Michigan State [#7], Iowa [#9], Michigan [#17], and Northwestern [#21]; this may change a bit this week.
Next up for the Spartans: a home game against the Terrapins of Maryland. Go Green!
