College Basketball 2016, Week Ten!

127Michigan State (still without Denzel Valentine) had no trouble against Illinois in the Spartan home opener (winning by 25 points); then Valentine was reinserted into the lineup against Penn State later in the week and the Spartans rolled, winning by 27 points).  There are now only two (2) undefeated teams remaining in the top-25:  (SMU, and South Carolina).  The Big Ten currently has four (4) teams in the AP top-25: Maryland (#3), Michigan State (#4), Iowa (#16), and Purdue (#24).

Next up for the Spartans: at home for a rematch against Iowa (Thursday) then on the road to Wisconsin (Sunday).  Go Green!

The upsets this week included:
Virginia (#4) losing to unranked Georgia Tech by four (4) points.
Arizona (#7) losing to unranked UCLA by three (3) points.
Arizona (#7) losing to unranked USC by two (2) points in quadruple overtime.
Providence (#8) losing to unranked Marquette by one (1) point.
Kentucky (#9) losing to unranked LSU.
Villanova (#11) defeating Butler (#18) by five (5) points.
Iowa State (#13) losing to unranked Baylor by five (5) points.
Louisville (#16) losing to unranked Clemson by four (4) points.
Purdue (#20) losing to unranked Illinois.
Connecticut (#23) losing to unranked Temple by two (2) points.

The close calls this week (won by six points or less [two scores] or in overtime) included:
Maryland (#3) defeating unranked Wisconsin by three (3) points.
SMU (#15) defeating unranked Cincinnati by only two (2) points.
Louisville (#16) defeating unranked NC State by five (5) points.
Butler (#18) defeating unranked DePaul by five (5) points.
Texas A&M (#21) defeating untranked Mississippi State by only one (1) point.
Texas A&M (#21) defeating unranked Tennessee by four (4) points.
South Carolina (#22) defeating unranked Vanderbilt by four (4) points.
Connecticut (#23) defeating unranked Memphis by three (3) points.
Pittsburgh (#24) defeating unranked Georgia Tech by five (5) points.
Pittsburgh (#24) defeating unranked Notre Dame by four (4) points.
