College Basketball 2017, Week Fourteen!

The Spartans only had one game this week (on the road at Nebraska) and managed to come away with a well-earned road victory. The Big Ten currently has four (4)  teams in the AP top-25: Wisconsin (#10), Maryland (#17),  Purdue (#23) and Northwestern (#25).  Gonzaga, as the only undefeated team remaining among the top-25, has finally climbed into the #1 spot in the rankings.  Way to go Zags!

Next up for the Spartans: on the road at Michigan (tomorrow) then home against Iowa (Saturday).    Go Green!

The upsets this week included:
Baylor (#2) losing to Kansas (#3) by five (5) points.
Baylor (#2) losing to unranked Kansas State by two (2) points.
Kansas (#3) losing to unranked Iowa State by three (3) points in overtime.
Arizona (#5) losing to Oregon (#13).
West Virginia (#7) losing to unranked Oklahoma State.
Kentucky (#8) losing to Florida (#23).
Virginia (#9) losing to unranked Syracuse by four (4) points.
Notre Dame (#20) losing to Duke (#21).
Butler (#16) losing to Creighton (#22).
Maryland (#17) losing to Purdue (#23) by one (1) point.
Creighton (#22) losing to unranked Xavier by two (2) points.

The close calls this week (won by six points or less [two scores] or in overtime) included:
Wisconsin (#10) defeating unranked Indiana by five (5) points.
North Carolina (#12) defeating unranked Pittsburgh by two (2) points.
Oregon (#13) defeating unranked Arizona State by one (1) point.
Cincinnati (#14) defeating unranked Tulsa by two (2) points.
Maryland (#17) defeating unranked Ohio State by six (6) points.
St. Mary’s (#18) defeating unranked Pacific by four (4) points.
South Carolina (#19) defeating unranked Georgia by two (2) points.

Top-25 match-ups won by the higher-ranked team included:
North Carolina (#12) defeating Notre Dame (#20).
Purdue (#23) defeating Northwestern (#25).
