College Basketball 2018, Week Nine!

January 8, 2018

It is only the first week of 2018 and we are already past the mid-way point of the regular season (17 games in the books, 14 games remaining until March Madness).  In their first week ranked #1, the Spartans took care of business at home and won big on Thursday against Maryland and then went on the road to Ohio State for their first real road challenge.  The Spartans played their worst game of the season and found that they were totally dominated (and outplayed) by the Buckeyes.    Alas.   There has been no lack of upsets among the top-25 this year as ranked teams continue to be challenged (numerous ranked teams were beaten this week alone — four of the top five teams lost to unranked teams).   Has the Madness come to January this year? (So it would seem.)  The Big Ten conference continues to have only two teams in the AP top-25: Michigan State [#?] and Purdue [#13?].  But could Ohio State break into the top-25 this week after beating  #1 Michigan State?

Next up for the Spartans: at home versus Rutgers on Wednesday (January 10th) and then another home game versus Michigan on Saturday (January 13th).  Go Green!
