Guns in America!

March 22, 2013

glockHappy Friday one and all!  Gun control seems to be “all the rage” these days.  But do you understand the gun laws in your state, as well as what’s happening in other states?  Here’s a blog post (courtesy of www.homesecurity.org) that takes a look at the prohibitions that affect buying, selling, and shooting across the U.S.  (Note: the information for this blog was compiled from the NRA and the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence.)  By hovering your cursor over an individual state, you can discover their requirements, laws, regulations, etc.

In addition to providing the information on the requirements to purchase and/or own a gun in every state, it also includes a discussion of recent reforms and debates surrounding the whole issue of gun control.

National Impaired Driving Prevention Month!

December 8, 2011

For thirty years now every President of the United States has demonstrated a commitment to preventing impaired driving by proclaiming December as National Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month, and most recently, as National Impaired Driving Prevention Month.  I’m going to step out on a limb here and say that it may take a bit more than just a proclamation to prevent; a proclamation definitely raises the awareness though, which could be the first step toward prevention.  Here is the Presidential Proclamation.

Here are some InfoFacts on Drugged Driving (courtesy of the National Institute on Drug Abuse).

Here are several statistical publications pertaining to impaired driving (courtesy of the National Criminal Justice Reference Service.)

Here are several publications on the enforcement of impaired driving.

Here is some information on the prevention of impaired driving.
