Air Force A Cappella!

February 13, 2018

I love a cappella singing (i.e., singing without instrumental accompaniment) — the precision and talent required to pull it off is extensive and when done well, never disappoints.  Here is a group from the Air Force Academy — thank you for your service, and thank you for your wonderful singing!

Happy Veterans Day, 2017!

November 11, 2017

Happy Saturday and Happy Veterans Day!  Last summer I ran across this wonderful medley of patriotic “American” songs by the group Anthem Lights (a bit too late to use for 4th of July).  So, what better time to share than on the day we honor our veterans. Thank you all for your service!  Enjoy!

Amazing Grace!

January 11, 2017

It is no secret that I really appreciate and enjoy the song “Amazing Grace.”  So whenever I find a new version, sharing is just second nature.  Here is an awesome version by the group Home Free.  Enjoy!

The Force Has Awakened!

Happy Friday!  Yes, the new Star Wars movie has been out for a couple of weeks, but here are a few a cappella versions the Star Wars theme/medley that will definitely get us geared up for the weekend!   And, if by chance you are one of the many who have not yet seen the movie, perhaps this will be the impetus you need.  May the Force be with you!  Enjoy!

Amazing, Indeed!

Happy Friday!  Here is a little something to get you ready for the weekend.  I really love a cappella singing, and there is no greater song than “Amazing Grace,” in my humble opinion.  So, allow me to share a new version that crossed my radar screen lately.  Enjoy!

Impromptu Rehearsal!

April 23, 2009

About a week ago, a friend of mine provided me with a choral arrangement from the King’s Singers Choral Series of “You Are the New Day,” by John David (arranged by Peter Knight).  A beautiful a cappella piece for SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass).  Well this afternoon, I received a phone call to see if I would be able to meet this evening to begin rehearsing . . .

So, despite having to work later than normal (tonight was my night to work late), we were still able to get together around my piano for a quick hashing out of some notes.  This is going to be a great piece when it is finally “performance-ready.”

We’re not there yet, but here’s a glimpse of where we hope to be . . . eventually (:-)
