Time to Look Alive!

May 7, 2012

As we begin a new week, why don’t we take a brief moment to reflect on “the meaning of life.”  Life, from the verb to live, by its very definition denotes energy, vivacity, or animation; a sense of being, of being fully engaged.  And while “life” goes way beyond merely existing, how often do we find ourselves not truly living and just going through the motions?  Probably more often than we would care to admit.  So when I ran across this quotation, I experienced an epiphany of sorts and decided that it is time to start living, or at least time to start looking alive (in as noisy and as colorful a fashion as I can muster).

“Look, I don’t want to wax philosophic, but I will say that if you’re alive you’ve got to flap your arms and legs, you’ve got to jump around a lot, for life is the very opposite of death, and therefore you must at very least think noisy and colorfully, or you’re not alive.” — Mel Brooks
