Gift-Giving Season!

December 10, 2019

Here we are . . . the gift-giving season.  Often times, our gifts become monetary.  Whether for lack of time to shop around, or a lack of creativity, money always seems to be a welcomed gift.  Did you know that money can be used in origami?  What a clever idea to exercise your creativity (along with a bit of “arts and crafts” skill) to give the perfect gift.  Here are the directions for an origami owl, the epitome of wisdom.  Happy folding.

Here’s an Oinker!

November 9, 2019

Did you know that pigs are one of the smartest animals on Earth?  And, despite their reputation, pigs are actually quite clean (they have the habit of rolling in the mud as a cooling mechanism).  Here is an origami version that will never roll in the mud.  Happy folding!

A Different Kind of Corgi!

October 8, 2019

From an “ownership” standpoint, I am not much of an animal enthusiast, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t cute, and adorable, or any other adjective you’d like to use to describe your favor pet.  And, while I would never own one myself, I have always thought that Corgis were simply awesome.  Here is an origami version (I could actually handle this kind of “pet”) . . . give it a try!  Happy folding!

F-14 Tomcat!

September 9, 2019

Here is a really advanced version of the paper airplane — an origami version of the F-14 Tomcat.  I’m not sure that it will actually pass the flight test, but an awesome creation nonetheless.  Happy folding!

To Infinity . . . (and Beyond?)!

August 8, 2019

Okay, so this reference to Buzz Lightyear (character from Toy Story) has nothing to do with this post except for the word “infinity.”  But, the word is pretty well-branded to Buzz.  Alas.  In reality, this post is about creating your very own infinity cube (an origami version) — and a very colorful one if you use the right papers.  Happy folding.

Polly Want a Cracker?!

July 9, 2019

The “Pollys” won’t need crackers or any other kind of food.  And, they will certainly be less vocal than the real deal.  Why not give this origami version of a parrot a try?  Happy folding!

A Paper Rhino!

June 9, 2019

I’m always looking for new and exciting origami designs.  Here is one for a rhinoceros that seems fairly simple and basic.  One thing is for sure, a paper rhinoceros will never be endangered.  Happy folding!

‘Tis Graduation Time!

May 9, 2019

With high school and college graduations happening all over the country in the upcoming weeks, here is an origami version of a graduation cap!  My college’s graduation ceremonies will be taking place this weekend on the main campus and on Monday for our campus.  Congratulations to all of our graduates!  Happy folding!

The Hercules Beetle!

April 8, 2019

Happy Monday!  As we start the new week, it might be a little early to start planning next weekend’s activities, so maybe you can give this a try on your lunch hour or some other evening this week.  Happy folding!
