Overcome the Noise!

July 27, 2016

I don’t know about you, but every now and then I struggle with my self-esteem.  More often than not, it is directly connected to my perfectionistic tendencies and the fact that most times, “good enough” really is good enough.  Other times, it is connected to the opinions of others that I forget are merely opinions.  So, here’s a quotation from Steve Jobs that is a healthy reminder to once again, be true to yourself.

“Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.”  (Steve Jobs)

Do You Love Your Work?

November 9, 2011

I certainly hope so.  I have been fortunate enough to have found a couple of careers where I have truly loved my work and who knows, maybe there will be a third or fourth career out there that catches my interest.  You just never know.  In the below quotation, Steve Jobs has it right . . . don’t settle for anything less in a job than that which you love doing.  In addition to the quotation from Steve Jobs, I found a few others of a similar opinion.  Happy Humpday!

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”  (Steve Jobs)

“When people go to work, they shouldn’t have to leave their hearts at home.” (Betty Bender)

”To find joy in work is to discover the fountain of youth.” (Pearl S. Buck)

“Real success is finding your lifework in the work that you love.” (David McCullough)

”You’ve achieved success in your field when you don’t know whether what you’re doing is work or play.” (Warren Beatty)
