A Collector’s Portfolio, Part Eight!

December 21, 2015

IMG_0755_Dockside_Number_18This painting is the eighth (in a series of eight) signed and numbered, limited edition (250) giclee prints from “The Art of Charles R. Murphy: a Collector’s Portfolio” that I acquired two summers ago, while vacationing in the Traverse City, Michigan area. This piece captures a village on the waterfront and could be from any of the numerous lakes in Northern Michigan (Leelanau and Grand Traverse Counties specifically).  On this print, I particularly like the proximity of the homes and businesses to the docks and waterside.  Ah, the memories.  The title: “Dockside #18,” the artist: Charles R. Murphy, the medium: giclee print, the enjoyment: on-going!

A Collector’s Portfolio, Part Seven!

November 20, 2015

IMG_0751_Flight_PlanThis painting is the seventh (in a series of eight) signed and numbered, limited edition (250) giclee prints from “The Art of Charles R. Murphy: a Collector’s Portfolio” that I acquired two summers ago, while vacationing in the Traverse City, Michigan area. This piece is a bit more on abstract than I usually like, but not horribly so.  On this print, I particularly like the orange highlights along with the dark contrasts — the bird really makes this piece work (in my humble opinion).  The title: “Flight Plan” the artist: Charles R. Murphy, the medium: giclee print, the enjoyment: on-going!

Collector’s Portfolio, Part Five!

August 21, 2015

IMG_0754This painting is the fifth (in a series of eight) signed and numbered, limited edition (250) giclee prints from “The Art of Charles R. Murphy: a Collector’s Portfolio” that I acquired last summer, while vacationing in the Traverse City, Michigan area. This piece captures the tranquility of the summer dusk and is reminiscent of my summers in Northern Michigan (Leelanau and Grand Traverse Counties specifically).  On this print, I particularly like the “looking down from above” perspective.  Ah, the memories.  The title: “6:30 P.M.,” the artist: Charles R. Murphy, the medium: giclee print, the enjoyment: on-going!

A Collector’s Portfolio, Part 2!

May 21, 2015

IMG_0748Here it is the end of May and I am just now posting the second (in a series of eight) signed and numbered, limited edition (250) giclee print from “The Art of Charles R. Murphy: a Collector’s Portfolio” that I acquired last summer, while vacationing in the Traverse City, Michigan area.  I actually got to meet the artist, Charles R. Murphy over drinks in my brother’s home.  In addition to the giclee prints, the portfolio included a variety of information about the artist as well as information about the giclee print process itself.   I was certainly no stranger to Charles  Murphy’s work (I had purchased one of his original watercolor paintings, Granite Valley,a few years ago) and was delighted for the opportunity to add these giclee prints to my collection.  This piece is a bit more on the abstract side, but is wonderful nonetheless.  Title: Saturday Morning, artist: Charles R. Murphy, medium: giclee print, enjoyment: on-going!

Tree Houses!

August 13, 2011

Here is a wonderful signed, limited edition print by John Leben that I found last month while on vacation in beautiful (and much cooler than Oklahoma was at the time) northern lower Michigan.  The neat thing about this painting is that it was created without using a paintbrush — it was digitally created entirely on a Macintosh computer!  And, this is only the top third of the original which has the ladder going all the way down to the forest floor.  I had been at the Art Fair less than fifteen minutes when this one caught my eye. And, it just so happens that during my visit home, my oldest brother was constructing a tree house for his daughter . . . not quite as elaborate as some of the tree houses depicted below, but a tree house nonetheless . . . and very cool — multi-level, balcony, etc.!
